Türkiye, Denmark to collaborate with Pakistan on climate initiatives
April 16, 2025VEON Ltd., a global digital operator, has announced a collaboration between its subsidiary, Jazz, and Huawei to install solar power systems at 1,000 Jazz network sites across Pakistan.
This initiative, leveraging Huawei’s iSolar technology, is set to be completed in the coming months. By transitioning to solar energy, the project aims to enhance network sustainability while cutting energy costs by up to 96% at the upgraded sites.
The initiative aligns with Jazz’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 by integrating renewable energy solutions into its telecom infrastructure. Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim underscored the company’s sustainability goals, stating, “We are committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience while reducing our environmental footprint. Deploying iSolar sites advances our sustainability journey, ensuring reliable connectivity powered by renewable energy.”
Phillip Gan, President of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating, “We are proud to partner with VEON and Jazz on the iSolar project, setting a new standard for green energy adoption in the telecom sector. This partnership reinforces our dedication to driving digital transformation with sustainable energy solutions.”
Beyond its immediate environmental advantages, the Jazz iSolar project is expected to serve as a scalable model for future renewable energy integration in the telecommunications industry.
